The 2018 Pink Out game wound up as a rain-soaked affair, with the Indians falling to the Mansfield Lake Ridge Eagles 35-21 at Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium.
The Tribe would strike first with a Campbell Sullivan run from 6 yards out after junior Josh Sterns picked off Chandler Rogers on third down. The Eagles would respond in kind at the end of the opening frame.
Lake Ridge would take the lead in the late stages of the first half when Rogers found Keylan Johnson for a 28-yard score, and they would never look back.
“The weather forced us to make some adjustments to our game plan,” head football coach Todd Alexander told the Waxahachie Daily Light. “We had to reel in our passing game.”
Despite the weather, quarterback DJ Hollywood was 11-for-25 for 140 yards and two touchdowns, improving his season totals to 712 yards and 10 scores with a 57% completion percentage.
Waxahachie (1-5, 0-3) travels to face Mansfield (1-5, 0-3) at Vernon Newsom Stadium on Friday. Kickoff is at 7:30 PM.
