Homecoming 2018 did not go quite as planned for the home team, as the Tribe fell to the Grand Prairie Gophers 20-6.
After a scoreless first quarter, Grand Prairie’s Jacob Juarez capped a 13-play Gopher drive with a 10-yard rushing score. Juarez would score again on a 20-yard pass from Hugo Vidal Carmona just before the half.
The Indians drove as far as the the Gopher 3-yard line but failed to cash in until Campbell Sullivan put up Waxahachie’s only score in the third quarter. Sullivan would lead the Tribe with 82 all-purpose yards.
The Indians (1-7, 0-5) travel to Mansfield on Friday to face the Mansfield Summit Jaguars (4-4, 3-2). Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM at Vernon Newsom Stadium.
