Fay struggles as Eagles sweep Indians
For the second straight game, the Waxahachie Indians ran into a mystery wrapped in an enigma in the form of the Mansfield Lake Ridge Eagles, ultimately dropping the series finale by a score of 9-1.
Indian starter Jordan Fay, despite taking the mound with a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to an error by Lake Ridge first baeman Luke Potter, struggled with his command early, pitching only 1 and 1/3 innings while surrendering 4 runs. Colton Lee would come in to attempt to stop the bleeding, but the damage was done.
On the flip side, Tony Robie would stymie the Indian offense, striking out 15 and walking one while allowing only 3 hits in his complete-game win.
Waxahachie (10-8-1, 4-2 in District 7-6A) returns to action on the road Tuesday against Mansfield High (9-9, 4-2), with first pitch at 7 pm. The game can be heard on KBEC 1390 AM/99.1 FM or at kbec.com.
