Indians win first 6A playoff game
The baseball field at the Bill Midkiff Sports Complex was witness to Waxahachie baseball history on Thursday as the Waxahachie Indians defeated the Dallas Skyline Raiders by an 8-4 score in game one of their best-of-three series.
After a thirty-minute delay before first pitch, Waxahachie opened the scoring with 7 runs in the home half of the first, chasing Skyline starter Carlos Cerda after just 1/3 of an inning. Romeo Rodriguez would hit a single to put the Raiders on the board in the second, but the Indians would push the margin back to 7 in the bottom of the third.
The visitors would close the gap to 4 with a 3-run top of the 4th, but the Tribe had done enough damage to hold the lead.
Waxahachie takes a 1-0 series lead to Raider Field at Skyline High School on Friday. First pitch, weather permitting, is scheduled for 5 pm. The Indians’ entire playoff run can be heard on KBEC 1390 AM/99.1 FM or online at KBEC.com.
