Brooklyn Nets hire hall of fame guard Steve Nash as next head coach

On Thursday, the Brooklyn Nets announced they have hired hall of fame guard Steve Nash to be their next coach. This comes after the Brooklyn Nets fired former head coach Kenny Atkinson earlier this year. Assistant coach Jacque Vaughn took over head coaching as interim head coach during the Nets short-lived playoff run. Vaughn proved that he could lead the Nets during his time as interim head coach, but the Nets organization went a different route.

The Nets signed Steve Nash to a four-year contract as the new head coach. This will be Nash’s first stint as a coach in the NBA, following other former NBA players to be coaches such as Jason Kidd and Tim Duncan. The Nets hope Steve Nash can use his experience and knowledge of the game of basketball to lead this team to a championship after a disappointing year, and they signed all-star guard Kyrie Irving and his best friend all-star forward Kevin Durant during the offseason to lead their team.
