Moore’s Journey to Collegiate Cross Country
Alyson Moore has a bright future ahead in her running career. Moore has been running since the fourth grade when she joined a summer track program, and that is where her love for running began. Since then, she has always dreamed of running in college. Now, as a senior, that dream is starting to become her reality. With lots of time, energy, and hard work she has grown into an impressive athlete with great motivation and potential.
Moore has enjoyed all aspects of the WHS Cross Country program, and she is very grateful for the lifelong friendships that she has made. Moore’s teammates have been some of her biggest supporters, and she says that they are her greatest inspiration to continue pursuing her running career.
Moore said, “The relationships I have built through running have kept me motivated to pursue a childhood dream.”
Moore has had many incredible moments during her high school CC career, which have all positively impacted her love for the sport.
According to Moore, “My favorite moment was when we won district freshman year. It was the first time in WHS history that girls CC had ever won the district meet, so it was really exciting to begin my high school career that way. It gave me an insight into what the future could hold”.
Moore has begun the college search and she is currently interested in running at LSU, Kansas University, and Texas A&M. Following college, Moore is interested in pursuing a career in either physical therapy or sports medicine. She has had a successful career in high school cross country, where she has placed in the top four every year at district, qualified for state, and held the two-mile record for two years. Alyson is looking forward to what her future will hold and she can not wait to continue running in college.
