Volleyball Starts Off Season Undefeated in District

Waxahachie Volleyball started off the season with a record of  27-10 and a district record of 4-0. Although, there was a change in the coaching staff the team has adjusted well and enjoys having Coach Erika Weber as the associate varsity coach who came to Waxahachie from Midlothian Heritage.

“I think it’s been a year full of growth and the girls are continually getting stronger. With ten seniors being a part of this team there is a lot of experience and leadership,” Weber said. “What I love most about this group is that there hasn’t been a day where they haven’t come to work hard and that’s why we have has so much success so far.”

In order to be successful, the girls have set goals for themselves to keep them motivated for the season. Looking back at the beginning of the summer, there has been so much growth and improvement throughout the entire team.

“My goals for this season would be to have a good record in district and hopefully have a good go around in playoffs,” said senior Maddie Fuller. “We’ve been working really hard and have improved which I think will allow us to be successful with the rest of the season.”

A play that Maddie feels that has really stepped up this year is her twin sister Abby.

“Someone I think that has really stepped up this year as a leader is Abby,” Maddie said. “She is our libero and is essentially the backbone of our defense and no matter what she’s going to give her best effort to get the ball up every single time.”

“It hits so much harder when you know there’s only a certain amount of games left in the Hachie gym before it’s all over,” A. Fuller said.
