The Lady Indians Varsity Volleyball team has started off district play with a 7-3 record.
“It was more pressure-filled because now there is more on the line,” rookie player sophomore Ashlyn Cavazos said. “Our obvious goal is being district champs so we have to execute at every game.”
Cavazos isn’t the only one worried about pressure.
“There’s definitely pressure in the tough situations, but I try to rely on my instincts and stay calm,” senior player Hannah Morgan said. “I’m able to support the team putting myself aside for the common goal.”
As for the entire team, Coach Weber said a balanced team is best.
“Our team is very balanced, and has great chemistry,” Weber said. “I think, overall aside from the wins and losses, building trust and relationships and the individual relationship between a coach and her players is the most important thing.”
The relationships and the traditions are the things that make volleyball special.
“My favorite game day tradition is ‘We ready and ‘bring ‘em out’. ‘We ready’ is where we scream and get hyped before a game. ‘Bring ‘em out’ is where we run out and get warmed up before a game.”
