The tennis team beat Mansfield Lake Ridge 11-8, securing the third-place spot in District for the first time in five years.
“I feel like this team has come so far and we are playing the best we’ve ever played.” senior Carli Reames said. “Our practicing and conditioning really paid off.”
The first record for Waxahachie team tennis was set in doubles.
“I went 15-2 and feel amazing about it.” senior Nick Garza said. “I worked hard to stay focused and am honored to have the first record in doubles.”
The team accomplished its goal for the fall season by making the top 3.
“It was the core goal of our team since the beginning of the year so we had the best chances at bi-district.” Coach Tanner said. “I am extremely excited and proud of the team for accomplishing that goal.”
The team has high hopes for the next season.
“I feel great about our accomplishments.” sophomore Jackson Engelbrechtsen said. “We’re going to come back and be even better next year.”
