Shyla Vires, WHS teacher and senior president Colton Christian took on nationals in Orlando, Florida this past summer.
“TSA is The Technology Student Association. and it’s where we come together as a group and express our love for technology” Christian said. “You can help us fundraise, there are community service opportunities and you get to compete in competitions. There are many options from costume creation to animatronic coding and presenting.” Christian shared.
There is many different areas ranging from STEM to health sciences in TSA you could possibly compete in.
“Technology Student Association is a place where students can come and compete, whether in a STEM, arts, or AV, we also have some business and health science areas” Christian said. “We give back to communities. And we practice leadership skills. TSA brings all of CTE together into one student organization.”
In the length of time with the upcoming Nationals this summer. Vires wants to improve in time management with next year’s upcoming group for next year’s summer TSA Nationals.
“Improving upon next year’s group that goes to nationals. I think all of it is in deadlines and meeting that time management” Vire said. “Because time wasn’t used in this year’s summer nationals. Which caused the students to rush on some parts. So I’m getting them to understand how much time they have even though it looks far away, June Nationals are within far reach. Regionals are in the near future in the middle of February, State is in the beginning of April.”
Christian expressed the reason why he joined TSA and gave a heads-up on Family History background as to why he joined.
“I joined because my family is a STEM family and I’ve always loved engineering and mathematics and all the types of sciences, so this just sounded like the club for me” said Christian
While Senior Jazyria Duvall one of the TSA Officers reasoning why she joined TSA is because she has an utmost passion for Engineering.
“I decided to join because I am really into engineering and being apart TSA allows me to interact most with technology and work with different people and different events” Duvall said.
TSA Students also share their experience with this year’s summer Nationals Experience in Orlando, Florida
“Nationals was just a really good time” Christian said. “A lot of people participated and the variety of projects was something special. It was so amazing that all of the this hard work came from students around the country. It’s an inspiration to look at and come back next year and try to match.”
Both students and Mrs. Vire want the same thing as last year for this year, to go back to nationals but with a much stronger and prepared team.
